Ground source heat pumps
Needs a bit of garden to carry this out but could be worth doing if you have the space?
What is howdoisavetheearth.com?
ITS DOWN TO US..
Apparently, its all our fault. Yes, us..
Hard as it is to believe but we are all responsible for screwing up the environment. Its our desire for international travel, big powerful cars, the latest gadgets and keeping up with the latest trends that is destroying the environment. Politicians talk about the need to raise green taxes and reward green behaviour, at the end of the day though it is only by us changing our ways that we can save the environment for our childrens future.
We dont need to go back to the stone age though. We need to change our ways, but we dont need to live the life of a saint to do it. The aim of this site is to provide simple achievable steps that we can all do - the minimum sacrifice for the maximum return. This site will hopefully provide the answer to the question: - How Do I Save The Earth?????

Some interesting tips on how to start saving the earth - nothing too radical here though but they are easy to carry out.
Key points are:
Turn the thermostat down by 1 degree
Replace traditional bulbs with energy saving bulbs

Environmental impact
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/MediaAlerts/2006/2006121123904.html
Interesting article - challenges a bit of established thinking around trees being the answer to reducing co2 and warming.. Doesnt come up with an alternative though.

Recycling
Waste not want not, one mans rubbish is another mans treasure, all these sayings hark back to a time when we were all a bit more careful with our resources. (During the war most probably!) Anyway, recycling is a good place to start on our mission to save the earth.
Im going to try and understand the problem - How much do we throw away each day into landfill sites? How long do these landfill sites stay around?
Im going to think how i can solve the problem - How can i recycle more effectively, without hopefully impacting too much on my lifestyle.
Im going to implement the solution - save the earth and let you know the path so you can follow on as well...
